What is an online school?
An online school offers a full learning program via virtual online classes. Students typically work from home and join a class through a video communication platform. From here, the students can interact with their teacher as well as any classmates. Lessons can be either live or pre-recorded.
What is e-Learning?
e-Learning means learning via the use of electronic technologies outside of a traditional classroom environment. Typically, the internet is used to enable access to an educational curriculum. It can refer to a program, a school or a degree delivered completely online.
Is e–Learning effective?
e-Learning can be a very effective tool for those involved in education. Firstly, it allows access to full resources from anywhere in the world and at any time. Therefore, it is designed to suit the learners needs. Also, since lessons can be recorded and stored online, this allows them to be reviewed as many times as a learner wishes. This is excellent for revision of work. Other benefits are that online courses are more cost effective and therefore affordable, and finally, the lessons focus completely on learning with less interruptions. Teachers are able to simply get on and teach without the need to constantly deal with unruly students.
Which curriculum does a British school typically follow?
British schools usually follow the education curriculum for their respective countries. As the UK is made up of 4 different countries (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), there are 4 separate education curriculums, one for each country. Although, there may be many similarities between these national curriculums. When an institution has been set up in another country outside of the UK, know as an international British school, these typically follow The National Curriculum of England or, could even be offering the IB program.
